영국 옥스퍼드에서 태어나 런던에서 그래픽 디자인을 공부하고, 20여 년 동안 다양한 일러스트 작업을 해 오다 10년 전부터 어린이 책 만드는 일에 힘을 쏟고 있다. 『네 귀가 낮게 붙어 있다고?』와 『푸딩』은 2001년 케이트 그린어웨이 상과 2002년 베스트 디자인 상 후보에 오르기도 했다. 그림책 외에 판화, 포스터, 카드 등에도 그림을 그리는 아주 인기 있는 화가이다. 그린 책으로 『사랑해 사랑해 사랑해』, 『사랑해 모두모두 사랑해』가 있다.
